Ben Folds at First Ave tickets
The American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and the former frontman of the alternative rock band Ben Folds Five is currently a solo artist who will be performing at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Folds started playing the piano at nine years old. He would listen to songs by Elton John, and Billy Joel on the radio and then would learn to play them by ear. In high school he played in several bands as the painist, bassist, or drummer. He first joined the band Majosha in the late 1980s. After the band broke up in 1990, Folds formed the group Pots and Pans-which only lasted about a month. Eventually Folds got a music publishing deal and would open for musician Marc Silvey (as well as playing bass for Silvey's band Mass Confusion). In 1994 Ben Folds moved back to North Carolina where the group Ben Folds Five started by Jeff Buckley. The members of Ben Folds Five went their seperate ways October 2000, while Ben Folds continued to work on his solo career. Tickets for Ben Folds are going for $73/ticket.
